The UW–Madison Day at the Capitol is an event every spring that features graduate student and postdoctoral researchers interested in sharing their research with state policymakers. This includes a poster presentation in the Capitol rotunda. This is an excellent opportunity for researchers to present their work to a non-scientific audience and show legislators, staffers, civil servants and the public the cutting edge research occurring on campus and why it is important to Wisconsinites.

One of WIPAC’s PhD students was selected to present and I was tasked with creating their poster. I collaborated with the student, their faculty advisor, and the communications manager on the content for the poster. They wanted do an overall showcase of IceCube science, featuring why IceCube is important to UW-Madison and the impact it has on Wisconsin through not only its research, but also its outreach to the public. The poster is bold, colorful, and easy to read so it can appeal to a broad audience. From policymakers to the general public, this poster helped the graduate student engage with all types of people, educating them about IceCube and all the amazing work they do.
